Welcome to Vernon Middle School, home of the Jackets! UPCOMING EVENTS FCAT FCAT FCAT The Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test® (FCAT) is part of Florida’s overall plan to increase student achievement by implementing higher standards. The FCAT, administered to students in Grades 3-11, consists of criterion-referenced tests (CRT) in mathematics, reading, science, and writing, which measure student progress toward meeting the Sunshine State Standards (SSS) benchmarks. We are asking parents to assist your children and Vernon Middle School by... · Having your child go to bed early each night before and during the test week. · Have a warm, well-balanced breakfast on the morning of the test. We will a provide free breakfast for all students who are testing each day. · Encourage your child to take the test seriously and to do their very best on EACH question. · Remind your child that if each student at VMS would have gotten just two more questions correct last year, we would have been an “A” school!!!!! · We CAN DO IT!!!!!
